Let’s set the scene a little…..
It’s Monterey Car Week and we have been standing in the sun and heat all day at The Quail. We’ve had an outstanding day talking to people about the One:1 we had on display there but 9 hours of continuous chatting in the California heat takes a greater toll than you think.
Technically speaking, The Quail finished at around 4pm. That’s when people started filing out. We still had another two hours of chatting with the die-hards while we waited for a truck to get in and pick up the One:1 we had on display there. And then we had a deadline to meet for a quickly arranged photoshoot at Laguna Seca racetrack.
Were we tired? You bet. Was it worth the effort? Absolutely!!
We contacted ace photographer Julia LaPalme, who works as Photo Editor for MotorTrend Magazine and was in town for Monterey Car Week. Julia has worked with Koenigsegg before, most recently shooting images of the Agera HH as Lewis Hamilton drove it from Los Angeles to Las Vegas during this year’s Gumball 3000. Julia was more than happy to accompany us for the shoot at Laguna Seca.

It was just before 7pm before we got away from The Quail Lodge and Golf Club. Laguna Seca is normally a 25 minute drive from there but this is one of the biggest events at Monterey Car Week and even though it had finished, the traffic was still thick enough to have pleading with the sun to set super-slow on the horizon.
As you can see, we got there and unloaded the One:1 from the truck just in time. We quickly got some shots in motion before parking the One:1 near the famous ‘corkscrew’ for some final shots with the last light of the day in the background.
Julia was able to work some serious magic that day and the results are breathtaking!

The car shown is the Koenigsegg One:1 chassis #112, the final One:1 built by the company and the only One:1 to reside in the United States.
Koenigsegg was a guest at the Michelin stand at Laguna Seca for two days during Monterey Car Week.

Is this One:1 coming to the soon-to-be showroom in Walnut Creek, CA?
No, it will not. The One:1 has an owner.
Any new info on the new showroom?
Awsome….loved it
That’s awesome. It’s so beautiful.
I’m a koenigsegg’s big fan……that pic is so awesome!!!!!
For example, would you be able to ask for a chrome paintjob and chrome wheels?
Also a full chrome gold exterior and matching wheels? What I am trying to ask is do you just ask the customer what they want in terms of customization and you will do it for them. The same kind of thing that McLaren do with MSO?
Christian famously once said that we can build a helicopter to go with the car if a customer really wants it.
We can do most things that a customer asks for and most times, we do. It’s a very time consuming thing to do, however, and it can even slow down production in the factory sometimes so we have to discuss things with the customer during the ordering process. And of course (as with MSO, I’m sure) all of those customisations come at a cost.
I can’t get enough of these cars, all the models are just fantastic! I can’t wait to see one at Koenigsegg Chicago, I’ll be the first one there.
Those are some fantastic shots of the One:1! Would it be OK to use those as desktop backgrounds? Do the photos belong to Koenigsegg or Julia?
I’m sure it would be OK for private use.
Absolutely stunning craftmanship goes into each and every part of these cars. There are really no words to describe the elegance and beauty of these machines.
You guys have done an excellent job making a name for yourselves and I can only hope to one day, own one of these pieces of art.
Truely inspiring.
The Holy Grail of Motoring finally achieved by the one manufacturer who deserves it! Now, my question would be, where to from here? I mean, there’s the Regera that’s in the pipelines, their luxury line, which is like riding a sabretooth tiger with a bespoke leather saddle atop it, and then there is this crazy-awesome creation, the One:1… Where does Christian go from here? The only thing I can think of is creating another “Green” monster like the Agera. Something utterly predatory, menacing and dark. Koenigsegg have made beautiful cars… But never menacing. Maybe experiment with a V10 concept perhaps? That would be quite frightening to say the least. Look at what they can do with a V8. Anything to comment?
i have a two questions, what is the distance either an agera R, one:1 or agera RS need for it to reach say, 360 kph? and my second question would be, where can i find a picture of the one:1 with the roof off?
