The latest installment of VMax200 saw a Koenigsegg trifecta at the top of the table AND a new VMax200 speed record.

The Koenigsegg One:1 set a new VMax record three times in one day back in 2016, topping out at a software-limited 240mph.

That record stood until May 2018, when it was broken by the newly-delivered Agera RSN with a Vmax of 242mph. The One:1 wasn’t there that day, however, so while the RSN broke the One:1’s record, what would happen if both cars were de-restricted at the same meeting, at the same time?

Cue VMax200’s final event for 2018, where the stage was set for some friendly rivalry underpinned by dogged determination.

Vmax200 is a top-speed sprint event held at Kendrew Barracks, a former RAF base, with a runway measuring some 1.3 miles (2.1 kms) in distance.

As mentioned, the Koenigsegg One:1 run by the BHP Project was there. The Agera RSN of Neildmr was also in attendance. They were joined by a VMax200 first-timer in the Agera R owned by Zach’s Garage.

Koenigsegg test driver, Niklas Lilja, shared time behind the wheel with the owners of all three cars at different times during the day.

The One:1 was fast all day. With only 1.3 miles to play with, explosive power off the line is just as important as building speed through the mid-range. The One:1 might theoretically be hampered at the top end by its prodigious downforce but it’s certainly quick getting there, and posted a top speed of 245.6mph (395 km/h).

The RSN was fantastically quick all day, with a top speed just decimal points shy of its 242mph record (389 km/h).

The Agera R is an engine evolution removed from the One:1 and RS but was still, by all objective measures, stonking quick. It posted a Vmax of 229 mph (368 km/h) on the day.

The three Koenigseggs were the top 3 cars at the final VMax200 event of 2018.

The One:1 and Agera RS now hold positions 1, 2 and 3 on the all-time VMax200 leaderboard. The Agera R posted a time to give it a share of 6th place on the all-time list.

Well done to everyone. I think from these speed onwards it starts to become a case of having Michelin develop tyres that can cope with the heat, as certain record runs start to push well beyond 470 km/h

245 mph is crazy fast! Having said that, Regera will exceed 250 mph…. Next year maybe?
